Episode 88: An Invisible Sign of Your Very Own

My utmost love and apologies to Ms. Aimee Bender for using her title, but it's just so perfect. A collection of everyday happinesses, from noticing the smallest things about someone else to the richness of a 1970s color palette -- there’s lots to love, everywhere.

A 1970s color palette, rich browns and golden oranges, crushed green velvet.

A mid-week baseball game with the home field advantage, the fans unruly and buzzing with excitement.

When they cover their mouth as they laugh, a practiced gesture, but it feels so private you’re privileged to have seen it.

Watching a classic movie for the very first time, finally understanding all the inside jokes and references you’ve been hearing for years.

Listening to them hum a little song as they wash dishes in the kitchen, swaying back and forth gently.

Scratching behind a cat’s ears, that soft gentle look of contentment flooding their face.

Meeting your partner’s parents, getting to see how their face can be found in their parents faces.

Bragging about someone else’s accomplishments, watching them blush with joy.

Getting into an elevator with a funny instrument panel or electronic voice that informs you of every passing floor.

Correctly pronouncing a word you’re not sure about at all.

Seeing pictures of the person you love through the years, first as a little kid.

Remembering how your grandmother would sing you to sleep at night, under cozy covers, your eyes closing gently.

Making a sweet inspiration board on pinterest, all the right colors and images flowing together to show what you mean better than you could have.

Pouring fresh cream into your tea, the swirling colors melding together.

Using the right tool for the job.

Re-arranging all the office furniture and feeling like you’re in a whole new space with endless possibilities.

Nodding hello to your neighbors and they nod back too, a small gesture, but you are known, you are seen.

A rope swing over a pond, you summon your courage and swing out, letting go at the very last second,

When you get the sign you needed to feel safe and secure in moving forward with what you really wanted to do.
