Episode 97: The World Reveals Itself, If You Keep Looking Closely

There's a lot of joy to be found in noticing the smallest things in the world -- pasta with cheese, looking at the same Italian hillside as Michaelangelo did, and your face from across the room when I catch you looking at me.

Being up so late at night that you know everyone you love is asleep in their bed.

Climbing the flights of stairs up the Duomo in Florence, being able to see what Michaelangelo saw so many years ago.

Pasta with a heaping helping of parmesan cheese melting into it.

Taking a weekend road trip somewhere you’ve been meaning to visit forever.

Throwing a theme party with a really silly theme that nobody seems to get right.

A completely random coincidence that truly surprises you.

Watching a bunch of 80s movies in a row, laughing at how silly the problems seem.

The smell of damp earth after the rain.

Your face, when I catch you looking at me from across the room.

The depth and beauty of the Grand Canyon, even though you’ve seen it in pictures, the view will humble you.

Very cold iced tea with a slice of lemon.

Learning about new inventions that will make life easier for everyone.

Overcoming your fear and asking for help on a project.

Being open and honest with people, giving them the opportunity to show up for you.

Looking at someone’s face close up, looking through one eye and then the other, seeing how they look different.

Knowing that the world will reveal itself to you, if you keep looking closely.

Using a magnifying glass to look at a postage stamp, noticing all the little details.

My version of paradise is the same as Johnny Cash’s -- this morning, with you, having coffee.
