Episode 98: The World Reveals Itself, If You Keep Looking Closely

Sometimes knowing it and feeling it makes all the difference. Apologies to my man C.S. Lewis, but it was really just too perfect to not borrow as a title. Sometimes it feels like the happiness of the weekend is diametrically opposed to the happiness of the week day, but truly, it's all drawing from the same well, the same river of joy. Where can we find time to create more joy this week?

Chocolates with a caramel center.

The first day off after a long stretch of working hard.

A seed vault, holding hundreds of thousands of seeds and plants safe until they’re needed in the far off future.

A package you’ve been waiting for, finally arriving.

A movie adaptation that’s almost better than the book.

A problem that solves itself before it has time to bother you.

A hug that makes you feel safer, calmer, loved.

When someone is exceptionally kind to you, when they didn’t need to be.

Knowing there’s better things ahead of you than anything behind you.

When the sun feels like liquid happiness, pouring all over your skin.

Artwork that has survived for centuries.

That first moment when the record needle hits the record, the fuzzy sounds before the music begins.

A date that’s surprisingly going really well.

Sitting outside in the late afternoon, turning on the sprinklers.

Remembering the taste of food from a restaurant that doesn't exist anymore.

The sound of your own two feet on the pavement, gently walking towards a place you love to be.

A really enormous, buttery chocolate chip cookie with crispy edges and a warm gooey center.

Peony season, gorgeous pink flowers with thousands of petals.
